Perth’s go-to party hub, Northbridge is brimming with bars, clubs and entertainment venues. While in the past Northbridge was considered a little shabby, a recent revitalisation has seen it emerge as one of Perth’s trendiest suburbs. Today, it serves up a distinctly bohemian vibe, with trendy brunch spots, boutique hotels and hip bars standing alongside blaring clubs, kebab shops and karaoke joints.
In addition to its hard party reputation, Northbridge is one of Perth’s most vibrant ethnic precincts. The unofficial Chinatown district runs along William St, which celebrates the area’s Asian influence. Northbridge is also entwined with the Greek and Italian communities and is home to Perth's first Orthodox Church.
Just 1 kilometre from the CBD, Northbridge is an easy walk from inner city hotels. It’s well linked by public transport and is close to Perth’s major train stations. Thanks to its central location, Northbridge is an easy walk, commute or taxi ride to other popular inner city suburbs like Leederville, Mt Lawley and Highgate.
While today Northbridge home to the majority of the city’s nightlife scene, it wasn’t always so glamorous. Before its development, Northbridge was flooded with freshwater swamps that made it a favourite with birds, rather than bar hoppers. Expansion began in the mid-1800s, with some of the area’s heritage buildings now converted into the majestic dining and entertainment venues.
