About Freeport, City of Freeport

Famous for its ocean front Lucaya district, Freeport is located on an island in the north-west of the Bahamas. With swaying palm trees, inviting turquoise waters and soft white sand, this is a destination you’ll be in no hurry to leave.

Things to do in Freeport

This coastal city is perfect for water babies, and all avid snorkelers and divers should head to nearby Paradise Cove. From here you can hire snorkelling gear and head out to Deadman’s Reef to spot the local marine life while scuba divers can take a boat out to the local dive sites.

Take a 25-minute drive east of Freeport to reach Lucayan National Park, an underwater network of inviting caves. This 16-hectare national park is full of nature trails, boardwalks and a variety of ecosystems. Spend the morning exploring the caves before enjoying a picnic on the beach.

Back in the city and the Garden of the Groves is calling. This tropical four-hectare garden is home to plenty of flora and fauna and is a great spot for all the family. Enjoy visiting waterfalls, feeding the local turtles and walking amidst the greenery before enjoying a spot of lunch at a local cafe.

No trip to Freeport can pass by without a day spent at Taino Beach. For those looking for a little more adventure, there’s plenty of water sports and excursions available here. Afterwards, head to Banana Bay restaurant for some delicious Caribbean seafood.
