About Sicily East Coast

Where volcanic mountains meet a sandy beachfront, the East Coast of Sicily is one of Italy’s most stunning destinations. The East Coast is a natural paradise where you can witness vibrant sunsets, hike through dramatic scenery or relax on the beach.

Spend some time in the quaint town of Taormina for a dose of culture, history and entertainment. Check out the Ancient Greek Theatre, where you can browse age-old exhibits while enjoying the pristine natural scenery. Giardini Naxos is located nearby and offers four kilometres of untouched coastline for sunbathing, swimming or boating.

Mount Etna is one of the most impressive formations in the area, serving as Europe’s highest active volcano. In summer and autumn, you can hike the sprawling slopes, while winter and spring offer skiing and snowboarding. When you’re hungry, head to Catania and try Pasta alla Norma, one of the region’s most traditional dishes.

Getting there

The easiest form of travel to Sicily’s East Coast is by car, as public transportation is limited. However, buses run between major East Coast cities, including Palermo, Acireale and Siracusa.
