Things to do in Akwa Ibom

Cheer on local sports teams at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. The 30,000-seat stadium is the home ground of the Super Eagles national football team. It also hosts athletic track and field competitions, as well as cultural events.

Sunbathe on Ibeno Beach, one of the longest stretches of sand in West Africa. It’s set at the mouth of the Qua Iboe River and overlooks the sparkling Atlantic Ocean. You’ll find resorts dotted along the Atlantic coast and along the riverbank. Make a splash with water sports and join a beach soccer game.

Hire a guide to explore Stubb's Creek Forest Reserve, one of the largest pockets of rainforest in Akwa Ibom State. The unique ecosystem is home to rare and endangered species like Nigeria-Cameroon chimpanzees and African leopards. There’s also a chance to see greater spot-nosed monkeys, collared mangabeys and endemic Sclater's guenons swinging in the trees.
