Things to do in Adana
Topped by six soaring minarets, Sabancı Merkez Camii is one of Turkey's most impressive mosques. It sits on the banks of the Seyhan River and is crowned by a 54-metre-high central dome. It's clad in a marble and gold leaf that gleams in the sunlight.
Owned and operated by the local government, the Tourist Office & Craft Shop offers information on local sights and attractions. It also houses a curated gift store selling ceramics, handicrafts and jewellery. Most goods are made by locals living in surrounding villages.
Adana serves up a smorgasbord of Turkish cuisine. Don't leave without eating your way through the menu at Oz Asmaalti, a hole-in-the-wall restaurant known for its spectacular kebabs and fully-loaded meze platters.
Adana may be a modern city, but it doesn't scrimp on history. The Roman Bridge spans over the Seyhan River and is estimated to be over 2,000 years old. It's considered one of the country's oldest and best-preserved Roman artefacts.
Getting around Adana
Adana's Old Town is easy to get around on foot, with most major sites and attractions within walking distance. The city is also well-serviced by a network of local buses and a subway line. Flights arrive at Adana Sakirpasa Airport, located around 15 minutes from the city centre.
