About Avissawella

Discover more than 30 hectares of lush wetland ecosystems in the Seethawaka Botanical Garden. The park doubles as a scientific research area and protects rare plants and flowers. Stroll along scenic trails, enjoy a picnic on the grass and rent a swan boat to paddle around the lake. Walk up to the lookout for fantastic views over the gardens.

Follow the jungle-covered trail to Kumari Ella Falls. A pair of mountain streams cascade down the rocky riverbed and create a series of waterfalls and natural pools. Ranmudu Ella is another great place to cool off. The falls plunge into an emerald-green pool that’s perfect for swimming.

Visit Barandi Kovila and walk around the ruins of a Hindu temple built in the 16th century. The moss-covered stone monument is all that’s left of the ancient Sitavaka city. Look closely to see elaborate leaves, flowers and Hindu symbols carved into the stone blocks.

Make a splash at LeisureWorld Water Park. Popular with local families, the park features slides, swimming pools and water rides. Enjoy a relaxing float along the lazy river and speed down the multi-lane racing slides.
