About Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via

Located near France’s border with Spain, Font-Romeu is a historic mountain town and the oldest ski resort in the Pyrenees. The area has been settled since at least the 9th century and today attracts visitors to its downhill skiing trails, snowboard parks and outdoor sculpture trail.

Things to do in Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via

In the winter months, you can hit the family-friendly slopes of Altiservice Font-Romeu Pyrénées 2000, which boasts an extensive network of trails to suit all ages and abilities. Families can take advantage of the kid-friendly areas while experienced snow enthusiasts can challenge themselves on the jumps of the terrain park.

Also nearby is Bolquère Pyrénées 2000, another winter sports destination that has downhill and cross-country trails to explore, as well as areas dedicated to snowshoeing and skijoring. In the summer months, it transforms into a hiker’s wonderland, with several rocky peaks that offer magnificent views across the region.

On the northern edge of Font-Romeu is Le Musée sans Murs (“The Museum Without Walls”), a cultural space that claims to be the highest art gallery in Europe. Follow the two-kilometre-long pathway that leads between its large-scale sculptures, which include works by Piero Cipolat and Philippe Bono, and enjoy the sweeping views of the Pyrenees. The trail ends at a sculpture titled “The Pilgrim and the Water Carrier”, which is equidistant from both Rome and Santiago de Compostela.

Getting around Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via

Font-Romeu is 1.5 hours’ drive from Perpignan and Perpignan–Rivesaltes Airport, which has flights to destinations across Europe and North Africa.
