Things to do in Jezzîne

Scenic hiking trails wind through the Bkassine Pine Forest and showcase stunning views of the Bisri Valley and Mount Lebanon Ridge. The four-hour Bkassine Side Trail is a local favourite and skirts the base of majestic cliffs before crossing an ancient Ottoman bridge. After your hike, refuel with mint tea and pastries in the charming village of Bkassine.

Jezzine Waterfall tumbles 74 metres down a rocky cliff and is one of the most impressive waterfalls in the Middle East. Hike to the base of the waterfall to feel the power of the cascade or admire the falls from one of the cafes perched on the clifftop.

Jezzine is a great base for exploring the boutique wineries of South Lebanon. Karam Winery has gained an international reputation for Meksassi, an indigenous Lebanese grape with aromas of citrus fruit, green apples and white mountain flowers.

From ancient Roman archaeological sites to Maronite monasteries, there’s plenty of history to discover in Jezzine. Built in the 1700s, the Monastery of the Lady of Machmouche is built from honey-coloured stone.

In the Jezzine town centre, you’ll find plenty of cafes and restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. Save your appetite for creamy hummus, zesty tabbouleh and crunchy “kibbeh” croquettes filled with pine nuts and spiced minced meat.
