About Łeba

Boasting a beautiful stretch of sand and family-friendly attractions, Łeba lies on Poland’s Baltic Coast. Originally mentioned in the 13th century, it spent time under the Teutonic Order and the Prussian Confederation before being ruled by the Polish Crown from the 17th century. Following World War II, Łeba became a popular seaside resort for German bohemians, including the Expressionist painter Max Pechstein.

Things to do in Łeba

If you’re visiting in the summer months, you can spend your days relaxing on Łeba Beach, a sweep of golden sand on the edge of the Baltic Sea. It stretches on both sides of the Łeba River and is backed by several beach bars where you can grab drinks and snacks throughout the day. Sprawling behind the beach is picturesque Łebsko Lake, which forms part of Słowiński National Park.

A short walk from the beach is the Amber Museum, which explores the importance of this fossilised tree resin to the local economy. In its four exhibition rooms, you’ll find a variety of local crafts and carvings made using amber, as well as pieces of amber with insects preserved inside. The on-site store sells a wide range of products crafted from amber.

Another museum not to miss is the Illuzeum, which features more than 100 interactive and hands-on exhibits. Be amazed by optical illusions and discover how things work before peering through the large kaleidoscope. If you’re looking for a quirky gift, the museum is well-stocked with unique gadgets.
