About Lech am Arlberg

Located on the banks of the River Lech, Lech am Arlberg is a picturesque mountain village and ski resort in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg. It was founded by Walsers in the early 14th century as the settlement of “Tannberg” before flourishing as an upmarket destination for outdoor pursuits.

Take a step back in time at the Museum Huber-Hus, which occupies an atmospheric wooden residence built in 1590. It displays objects and artefacts illustrating the traditional lifestyle of the region, with a recreated kitchen and workshop on display. A short stroll away is the Alte Kirche St. Nikolaus, which features a soaring tower topped by an onion dome.

In the winter months, you can explore the ski runs of Ski Arlberg, which has been frequented by snow enthusiasts since 1884 when Emperor Franz Joseph I opened the Arlbergbahn. It’s the largest connected ski area in Austria and home to one of the world’s longest ski circuits, the White Ring. In addition to its 300+ kilometres of marked runs, Ski Arlberg is also a popular destination for dog sledding.

Once the snow melts, Arlberg’s ski runs transform into an extensive network of signposted hiking trails, which lead through spectacular alpine valleys and mountain ranges. Several trails ascend to mountain huts where you can dine on local specialties, accompanied by stunning nature views. Cycling trails connect to the turquoise waters of Spullersee Lake and the 2,009-metre-high viewpoint at Stierlochsattel.
