About Port Lincoln

Nicknamed the “Tuna Capital of the World”, Port Lincoln overlooks Boston Bay on the beautiful Eyre Peninsula. It has a rich seafaring history and makes an ideal base for exploring the surrounding coastal landscapes.

Things to do in Port Lincoln

Spend a day in Lincoln National Park to see one of the most spectacular coastlines in South Australia. There are rugged offshore islands and vast sand dunes to explore, as well as secluded stretches of beach for swimming and fishing.

Want to see one of the Eyre Peninsula’s most beautiful beaches? Head to the Memory Cove Wilderness Protection Area that lies cradled between two densely vegetated headlands within Lincoln National Park.

Be sure to visit Coffin Bay National Park on the other side of the Eyre Peninsula, renowned for its oyster farms and pristine stretches of sand. Canoe around the coastline from Yangie Bay and take in the magnificent views en route to Point Avoid.

If you want to get your adrenaline pumping, go cage diving with great white sharks in the cool waters off Port Lincoln. For something truly unique, you can also swim with a giant tuna within purpose-built platforms.

Getting around Port Lincoln

Port Lincoln is served by its own airport, located 15 minutes’ drive north of the town center, or it’s an eight-hour bus ride from Adelaide. Hiring your own vehicle is the best way to explore the Eyre Peninsula’s national parks, while bikes can be hired for cruising around town.
