About Stockland Glendale

One of the larger shopping centres in New South Wales, Stockland Glendale serves the Glendale suburb near Newcastle. Its tenants are predominantly large chains, and the complex’s overall design is modelled after open-air American power centres.

Anchor stores at Stockland Glendale currently include Coles, Target, Kmart and Event Cinemas. Woolworths and Aldi are also prominent retailers in the complex. Aside from these larger stores, there are several specialty shops and dining options on-site. When the shopping centre first opened, there were 50 specialty stores and fast food outlets.

Glendale is a suburb of Lake Macquarie, Australia, and lies less than a 30-minute drive west from central Newcastle. There are several bus routes serving stops at Stockland Glendale, both on Hunter Valley Buses and Newcastle Buses and Ferries. Travel by bus from central Newcastle to Stockland Glendale in less than an hour.

Stockland itself is a large corporation with dozens of shopping centres all over Australia. The centre at Glendale was first-conceived in 1994 and opened in 1996. An expansion in 2005 added the Kmart and 19 specialty stores. There are plans to expand the centre again, doubling the retail space and creating hundreds of jobs.
