About Triberg

Triberg im Schwarzwald is a fairy-tale town set in the heart of the Black Forest. Admire beautifully carved cuckoo clocks, visit a charming local history museum and hike to one of the highest waterfalls in Germany.

Things to do in Triberg

The Triberg Waterfalls cascade more than 150 metres down fern-covered cliffs. The falls are fed by the Gutach River and open year-round. Explore shady hiking trails in the summer and visit in winter to see the falls covered in shimmering snow and ice.

Perched on a hilltop and surrounded by fir trees, Maria in der Tanne looks like something from a German storybook. The Baroque church dates back to the 18th century and is built on the site of a natural spring said to have healing powers.

Uncover local history, culture and traditions at the Black Forest Museum. Inside are engaging exhibits that cover everything from musical instruments to mining. Admire dozens of period costumes and learn about how cuckoo clocks are made.

Watch the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock chime twice every hour. The cuckoo bird is more than four metres long and weighs an impressive 150 kilograms. Want to buy your own cuckoo clock? Triberg im Schwarzwald is one of the best places in Germany to purchase the famous pendulum clocks. Local craftspeople have been building them in the town for centuries. You’ll be amazed by the intricate carvings and incredible attention to detail.
