About Bad Zwischenahn

Hugging the southern shore of the Zwischenahner Meer, Bad Zwischenahn is an atmospheric resort town famed for its smoked eel. It’s a picturesque base for lakeside bathing and boating and is an important hub for the production of German sausages.

Farmhouses from across the region have been relocated to the Open Air Museum Ammerland Farmhouse, which forms part of the waterfront Kurgarten. Wander between the thatched roof and wooden buildings before admiring the 1811-built windmill. Vintage agricultural equipment and homewares help to bring the past to life.

A scenic stroll along the lakefront promenade will take you to St. Johannes Church, which has been in existence since the 12th century. Step inside to see the pulpit crafted by Tonnies Mahler and the 1520-built altar, with a fresco of the “Last Judgement” positioned above. Nearby is the Badepark Bad Zwischenahn with its swimming pools, diving boards and grassy lawns.
