One of the largest art museums in the United States, Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts houses masterpieces from around the world. It’s home to more Monet pieces than any museum outside of Paris, an impressive Japanese art collection and American art from colonial to modern times.
You can see Indian paintings and sculptures and Japanese prints and metalwork in its engaging exhibits and galleries. Marvel at Baroque, Renaissance and American art, then venture inside the new Art of the Americas Wing to admire its paintings, sculptures, furniture, textiles, and decorative arts.
The wing’s items detail the story of the art of the Americas from prehistoric times to the present day and include over 5,000 examples of art. Don’t miss the massive “Passage of the Delaware” painting, Paul Revere’s “Sons of Liberty Bowl and the iconic painting of George Washington that can be seen on the United States’ one-dollar bill.
Getting there
You can reach the Museum of Fine Arts by car from Huntington Avenue and State Street Corporation Fenway entrances, with ample parking available. Alternatively, take the “T” subway to the Museum of Fine Arts stop. Logan International Airport is a 20-minute drive away.
