About Prague Main Railway Station

Known to locals as “Praha Hlavni Nadrazi”, Prague Main Railway Station is located east of Prague’s city center, one kilometer from the historic Old Town. It’s the busiest railway station in the Czech Republic, with trains heading north to Berlin and south to Munich, Budapest, and Vienna.

The central station encompasses a modern underground concourse with shops, food outlets, ATMs, currency exchange and luggage storage. It was built in 1979, while the original station dates back to 1901 and still boasts classic Art Nouveau architecture.

Venture upstairs to admire the dome ceiling while sipping on a latte at Cafe Coffee Day. If you’re lucky, a local musician will be playing a tune on the free piano. Those after something more substantial to eat will find hearty local dishes at Restaurant Šalanda near the main entrance.

Getting there

Prague Main Railway Station has access to a metro line, but it’s only five minutes’ walk from Charles Bridge and 15 minutes’ from the Old Town Square. You can hire a car within the modern station or walk towards the front entrance to find a taxi rank and secure bike depository.
