Umag is a breezy town perched on the Istrian peninsula and surrounded by centuries-old defensive walls. The town is built around a picturesque natural harbour and criss-crossed with cobbled streets lined with honey-hued stone buildings. Things to do in Umag

The defensive walls surrounding Umag have been standing since the 10th century. While sections of the walls are crumbling, you can see the remains of the enormous gate and drawbridge. Learn about the town’s storied past at the Umag Municipal Museum, which occupies a former military tower. It showcases treasures found at local archaeological sites, some of the oldest dating back to Roman times. The museum moonlights as a gallery for contemporary artists.

St Peregrine's Church overlooks the main square and features a handsome Baroque façade. The free-standing bell tower soars over the square and dates back to the mid-1600s. The interior features pastel murals and beautiful ceiling frescos.
