About Westlake

Westlake is a wonderfully multicultural community perched on the border of Downtown LA. Thanks to its proximity to the city centre, fantastic public transport options, public green spaces and colourful Latino roots, Westlake has emerged as a vibrant neighbourhood. Today, both visitors and locals flock to Westlake to enjoy the upbeat energy and culture of its predominantly Central and South American citizens.

Staying in Westlake isn’t complete without a jaunt down Alvarado Boulevard. From fruit stalls and food trucks to cantinas and clothing boutiques, the neighbourhood’s main thoroughfare is a celebration of its diversity. For an urban escape, MacArthur Park is the area’s most popular green space.

Bordering the downtown west side, Westlake is just 15-minutes from LAX by car or 40-minutes via public transport. It’s also close to major LA attractions, with Santa Monica Pier, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Venice Boardwalk and The Grove all within easy driving distance.

Westlake played an important role in the development of LA’s neighbourhood culture and was one of the first western regions to attract the attention of residential developers. It quickly became popular with wealthy Jewish families, who commissioned elegant Spanish Revival and Art Deco mansions. Today, many have been converted into multiple-occupancy buildings and hotels.
