Flushing Meadows Corona Park is New York City’s second-biggest park and home to the Queens Museum and Botanical Gardens. Previously home to New York’s World Fair, the park is now a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Spend the morning at the skate park, visit the local zoo or simply wander along the park’s footpaths enjoying the rolling green landscapes.

For a culture and history fix, head to the Queens Museum. This art museum and educational centre was founded in 1972 and features an array of permanent and temporary exhibitions, including a vast collection of Tiffany lamps and glasswork. The museum’s biggest attraction is the “Panorama of the City of New York” exhibit, which boasts a room-sized scale model of New York’s five boroughs.

Located in Flushing Meadows Park, Citi Field is Queens’ biggest sporting venue. You can catch a home game of Major League Baseball’s New York Mets and soak up the stadium’s lively atmosphere.

New York Hall of Science also sits in Flushing Meadows Park and is home to over 450 exhibits and an array of family-friendly workshops. Exhibits include the “Face of the Southern Ocean” and a permanent Design Lab, which allows you to experiment with simple electric circuits.

Getting around

John F. Kennedy International Airport is a 30-minute drive south of Queens, while LaGuardia Airport sits just north of the borough. Queens can be accessed and explored by using the New York City Subway and taxis.
